I TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) feral cats regularly and in most cases its best for feral cats to be returned where they were trapped but if the cats are in immediate danger, I'll need to find them safe homes.

When taking your barn cats to their new location they should be kept in an enclosure or barn for 5-8 weeks. This will get them used to the new smells and environment. They'll also learn that's where their meals will be so they won't run off. After you release the cats you still have to provide shelter, food, water and vet care for them.
